Q: Why choose the Platinum Ice?
A: The Soprano ICE Platinum offers the synergistic benefit of the three most effective wavelengths for hair removal:
Q: Is laser hair removal with the Platinum Ice painful or uncomfortable?
A: You may experience a small but manageable sensation that we describe as a “pinch” or a “zap” when we pulse the laser. This is not always the case with all our clients as everyone's tolerance is different. The cool tip on the hand-piece really helps alleviate any hot sensation as well. Most of our former waxing, stringing and electrolysis clients report that the discomfort is far less than those methods of hair removal. Stress, fatigue, caffeine, your menstrual cycle and pain tolerance may also influence the level of comfort — or discomfort — that you feel.
NOTE: We do not recommend coming in to get laser done during your menstrual cycle as your hormones are not as balanced and you may not receive the results you are looking for.
Q: Why is Laser with Platinum Ice one of the top choices for hair removal?
A: Lasers reduce hair for good, giving you a long-lasting, even permanent result or reduction. In only a few treatments (most laser companies recommend 8 to 12 to get full results) we can clear your skin of the unwanted hair that has bothered you for so long. Traditional hair removal methods, such as waxing, shaving, depilatory creams, plucking/tweezing, sugaring, and stringing provide only temporary results — some for fewer than 24 hours. Within hours or possibly days, you are back at it again, hunched over a magnifying mirror to tweeze out facial hair, running a razor over tender skin, or enduring painful waxing. To make it worse, these methods can often stimulate hair growth!
Q: How does Laser remove hair?
A: Hair removal lasers emit a light at a specific wavelength that is known to be absorbed by the pigment (color) in the hair follicle — without damaging the surrounding skin. The light is converted to heat energy, which in turns disables the hair follicle so that it will not produce another hair.
Q: Is Laser a permanent hair removal solution?
A: In short, no. Hair removal from a destroyed hair follicle is permanent. However, people who undergo hair removal can expect that some hair in the targeted area will grow back. Over time, it is possible to treat the area again to reduce the number of hairs that regrow. In some cases, it may even be possible to eliminate all hair. Most people find that when hair regrows, it is lighter and less noticeable than it was before. This is because the laser may damage the hair follicle even when it fails to destroy it. If a hair follicle is damaged but not destroyed, the hair will eventually regrow. It can be difficult to destroy every single hair follicle, so most people will see some hair regrowth. When hair regrows, it is possible to treat it again, so people who want to remove all the hair may need several treatments.
Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: The laser targets the dark pigment found in the hair follicles. The laser energy is absorbed by the follicles and converted into heat, which permanently damages the follicle. However, the laser effectively destroys only those hairs that are in the active growth phase. Because individual hair grows at different rates, several treatments are necessary to successfully destroy all hair follicles. Most of our patients need 6-12 treatment sessions, spaced about 4–8 weeks apart. Once your sessions are complete, you will need to maintain the growth by booking an appointment every 4-12 months (we will decide this according to your growth).
Q: When will I see results?
A: Immediately after the treatment, your hair will look about the same. Over the next 7–30 days, the damaged hair follicles will expel the last remnants of the weakened hair. Thus, you will see hairless skin in a few weeks before the hair starts to grow back again slowly.
Q: How can I prepare for my laser session??
A:
-Before coming in for your appointment, make sure the areas you are getting lasered are fully shaved at least 5 hours prior to your appointment (if using Veet or Nair, please do so 24 hours in advance to avoid any reaction).
-Don't use tanning beds or spend time outside (sun tanning) about a week prior to your appointment.
-Don't apply makeup, lotions or deodorant to the areas being lasered.
Q: Can I shave or wax between sessions?
A: You should shave 2 weeks post your laser sessions and then hold off if you can until you have to come in. You will not be able to wax between sessions. If you do end up having to wax, please make sure you don't get laser done until 6 weeks after your last wax session. Shaving will just cut off the hair that's coming out of your skin whereas waxing will pull the bulb out. When the bulb has been pulled out, the laser is not able to target the bulb since there's none there. The same goes for threading, tweezing and epilating.
Q: What if my appointment was meant to be in 4/6 weeks and I'm not able to make it until weeks later?
A: That is absolutely okay. We understand that things happen and appointments need to be pushed (either from my end or yours). You can even wait up to 10 weeks in the beginning stage as there are different growth cycles our hair goes through and we can still catch the hair at 10 weeks. Depending on what session you are on, it is actually better to wait so that there are more follicles to work on.
